Connect one account with Tier Guard, free on MetaTrader 5 and cTrader: closed trades arrive in the journal, waiting in a review queue. Manual entries work too.
Free trading journal · MetaTrader 5 and cTrader
A free trading journal built for prop firm traders.
Every trade with its screenshots, your notes and your playbooks, with the prop firm limits next to it. Free for 100 entries; unlimited with TradesAlba and on the account of a Tier Pass or Tier Manage.
From signup to your first review in five minutes.
Email and password, or Google. No card, no trial that expires.
Add Tier Guard to MetaTrader 5 or cTrader: free on one account, prop challenge, funded or your own broker.
Closed trades wait in the review queue: add the setup, the screenshot, the mistake and the lesson.
What the free journal does.
Each trade is drawn on its own chart, with the entry, the exit, the stop loss and the take profit where they really were, on the trade's own clock.
Attach your charts, write why you took the trade and what you would change. Search and filter by symbol, session and side.
Tag each trade with its setup and with the mistakes you made, then see which setups make money and which mistakes cost the most.
Win rate, profit factor, expectancy, deepest dip and average hold for winners and losers, with a calendar of your monthly results.
Over the last 8 weeks: the prop limits you respected, a stop loss on every trade, the news rule and your risk per trade, in one score.
Daily notes with the day's high-impact news in your time zone, so the plan is written before the market opens, not after.
This week against the last one: a plus or minus with a direction, so you know whether you are improving, not only what you made.
A private, read-only link to your journal for a mentor or a friend, which you can switch off whenever you want.
The statistics, and why they matter on a prop account.
| Statistic | What it measures | Why it matters on a prop account |
|---|---|---|
| Win rate | The share of trades that closed in profit. | Read it with the size of wins and losses: 40% can make money, 70% can lose it. |
| Profit factor | Money won divided by money lost. Above 1 the strategy makes money. | Below about 1.2 a normal bad week can wipe out a month, and the limits do not wait. |
| Expectancy | The average result per trade, losers included. | Times the trades you take, it tells how many days the target needs. |
| Deepest dip | The largest fall from a high, in the period you choose. | Compare it with the maximum loss of your firm: it is the room your strategy really uses. |
| Average hold | How long winners and losers stay open. | Losers held longer than winners are a classic leak, and the daily limit pays for it. |
- The setup from your playbook, and why you took the trade
- A screenshot before the entry and one after the exit
- The risk in % of the account and the result in R
- Whether you followed your rules, and the mistake if you did not
- One lesson you can use on the next trade

Why a prop trader needs a different journal.
A prop account ends on one bad day. A normal journal tells you whether a trade made money; on a prop account the question is also how close it took you to the daily and the maximum loss. TierAlba keeps the limits of your firm next to your trades.
The review is where traders improve. Trades from your connected account wait in a queue until you add the setup, the screenshot and what you learned, so no trade is forgotten after a long day.
One place for everything. The journal sits in the same dashboard as Tier Guard, the position size calculator, the drawdown calculator and the economic calendar: one login, no exports between apps.
Private by default. Your journal is visible only to you; a share link exists only when you create it, and you can switch it off at any time.
Questions about the journal.
Is the TierAlba trading journal really free?
Yes. The free plan holds 100 entries with screenshots, notes, playbooks, the review queue, the statistics and the monthly calendar, and includes Tier Guard on one account. TradesAlba Standard and Pro make it unlimited.
Does it import trades from MetaTrader 5 automatically?
Yes, through Tier Guard: connect your MetaTrader 5 or cTrader account and closed trades arrive in the journal's review queue. You can also add trades by hand.
Does it work with cTrader and with prop firm accounts?
Yes. Tier Guard runs on MetaTrader 5 and cTrader, on prop firm challenges, funded accounts and your own broker account, and shows the firm's limits next to your trades.
Is it a free alternative to Tradezella or TraderSync?
For a prop trader on MetaTrader 5 or cTrader it covers the core of a journal for free: trades, screenshots, notes, playbooks and statistics, with the prop firm limits that general journals do not track. Dedicated journal apps offer more advanced analytics and broker connections.
What happens after 100 entries?
Everything you wrote stays. To add new entries you need TradesAlba Standard or Pro, or an account covered by a Tier Pass or Tier Manage, where the journal is unlimited.
Can I journal without connecting an account?
Yes. You can add trades by hand with their screenshots, setup and notes; connecting an account with Tier Guard only saves you the typing and adds the prop firm limits.
Can I use it for several prop accounts?
Yes: every entry belongs to an account and you can filter by account. On the free plan Tier Guard runs on one account and the 100 entries are counted across all of them.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The dashboard works in the browser on desktop and on the phone, so you can review a trade or write the plan of the day wherever you are.
Who can see my journal?
Only you. If you create a share link for a mentor, it is read-only and you can switch it off whenever you want. Your data is handled under the EU's data protection rules, as the privacy policy explains.
