How many days to pass FTMO?

Choose the program and your average result per trading day. You get the profit each phase needs, the trading days it takes, and how it compares with the median of 7,000 simulated Tier Aurora challenges.

Average result per trading day

The average of all trading days, losing days included. A strategy that makes 1% on good days and loses on others can average 0.2%.

Median trading days on FTMO 2-Step, 7,000 simulated paths per profile on 2022 to September 2026 data, Tier Aurora v7.29. Simulations, not a promise. See the study

The calculator runs in your browser: nothing you type is sent or saved. A real challenge does not grow in a straight line: losing days come in streaks, which is why the published medians include them.

How the days are calculated.

The target divided by your average day. The average already includes losing days, which is what makes it honest.

Trading days = phase target % ÷ average result per trading day %

Example on a 100,000 dollar FTMO 2-Step. Phase 1 asks for 10%, 10,000 dollars; at an average of 0.25% a day that is 40 trading days. Phase 2 asks for 5%, another 20 days: 60 trading days in total, about 12 weeks.

Faster costs risk. To finish Phase 1 in 20 days you need 0.5% a day on average, which usually means bigger positions and a daily loss limit that a short losing streak can reach. Check it with the position size calculator.

Questions about passing FTMO.

How long does it take to pass the FTMO challenge?

It depends on the average result per trading day. At 0.25% a day, Phase 1 of the 2-Step (10%) takes 40 trading days and Phase 2 (5%) another 20. In our published simulations of Tier Aurora v7.29, Phase 1 took a median of 36 to 51 trading days depending on the risk profile, and both phases 64 to 87.

How much profit do I need for FTMO Phase 1 and Phase 2?

On the FTMO 2-Step, 10% of the account in Phase 1 and 5% in Phase 2: on a 100,000 dollar account, 10,000 dollars and then 5,000 dollars. The 1-Step asks for 10% once.

What daily average is realistic?

Averages between 0.1% and 0.3% per trading day are common for strategies that respect the loss limits; above 0.5% a day the risk per trade is usually high enough that a normal losing streak reaches the daily loss limit.

Can an Expert Advisor pass FTMO faster?

An EA does not make the market move faster, but it trades every session without breaks and keeps the risk constant. In our simulations the faster Tier Aurora profile finished Phase 1 in a median of 36 trading days and passed 92% of the time; the slower one took 51 days and passed 97%.

Why does the faster profile fail more often?

Because it risks more per trade: it reaches the target sooner, but the same losing streak takes it closer to the loss limits. Passing sooner and failing more often go together.

Is my data saved?

No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser: nothing you enter is sent to TierAlba or stored.

FTMO targets checked on 1 November 2026. Rules change: read FTMO's current rules before you buy a challenge.

Let the EA do the days.

Tier Aurora trades your FTMO challenge inside every limit, with a stop loss on every trade and a refund if it fails because of the EA.
